EV Charger Installation in Mississauga

XB Electric installs Level 2 EV chargers at homes across Mississauga. A standard installation typically costs $1,500–$2,800, completed under ECRA/ESA licence #7016894, with the ESA permit and inspection included in the price.

Before confirming scope, we review your electrical panel, its main service rating, the charger model, where you park, and the route between the panel and that spot. Call (647) 401-7444 or send photos for a written estimate.

Quotes for the same job vary widely in this city, and it is almost always down to four things:

  • the distance and route from your panel to the charger

  • whether the panel can take a new 240-volt circuit at all

  • whether the charger is hardwired or fed from an approved receptacle such as a NEMA 14-50

  • whether it goes inside a garage or onto an exterior wall, where a weather-rated unit and a matching wiring method are required

The charging unit itself runs $500–$1,200 depending on brand, amperage and connector. We install Tesla Wall Connectors along with FLO, ChargePoint, Grizzl-E, Autel, Emporia and other approved equipment, using NACS or J1772 connectors depending on the unit and the vehicle. If you already own the charger, the quote covers installation only.

Capacity check

Do You Need a Panel Upgrade, or Will Load Management Do?

We run a load calculation on your existing service before quoting, so you know the answer before you commit to anything.

An EV charger is a continuous load, which means the breaker has to be rated above the charger’s actual draw — a 40-amp charger needs a 50-amp breaker, a 48-amp charger needs a 60-amp breaker.

On a 200-amp service with spare breaker spaces, that is usually straightforward. On a 100-amp service, or a panel that is already full, there are two ways forward.

Load-management device
$1,000–$1,500

A load-management device shares available capacity between the charger and the rest of the house. It costs $1,000–$1,500 and often removes the need to replace the service at all.

Service upgrade
$3,000–$5,000+

The alternative is a 200-amp service upgrade at $3,000–$5,000+. We tell you which one applies before the work is booked, not after.

A service upgrade also involves Alectra Utilities, the electricity distributor for Mississauga. We coordinate that work alongside the ESA notification and confirm the timeline with you before scheduling.

Scope of work

What the Installation Includes

  • Load calculation and panel capacity review
  • A dedicated 240-volt circuit: breaker, conductors, and conduit where required
  • Mounting the charger, or installing an approved receptacle
  • Testing the circuit and confirming the charger operates
  • ESA notification, inspection, and documentation

A Level 2 charger runs on 240 volts and charges roughly five to seven times faster than the 120-volt cord supplied with the vehicle, which is what makes overnight charging practical rather than a weekend project.

Permits and inspection

Do You Need a Permit to Install an EV Charger in Mississauga?

Yes. A new 240-volt EV charger circuit requires an ESA notification and inspection anywhere in Ontario. Any contractor doing that work for you has to hold an ECRA/ESA licence — that licence is what allows them to file the notification in the first place.

XB Electric files it under ECRA/ESA #7016894, handles the inspection, and gives you the documentation once the work is approved. Both are included in the quoted price rather than added to the final invoice.

Condominium installations

EV Charger Installation in a Mississauga Condo or Townhouse

If you own your parking space in a condominium, there is a defined process for this.

Ontario Regulation 48/01

Since May 2018, Ontario Regulation 48/01 under the Condominium Act has set out how an owner applies to their corporation to install an EV charging system, and a board cannot refuse the request arbitrarily.

  • You apply in writing to the corporation or the property manager,

  • the two sides sign an agreement,

  • and unless the corporation agrees otherwise, the owner pays the installation costs.

The regulation also requires the work to be done by a licensed electrical contractor under an ESA permit — which is the same licence we install under for houses.

$3,000–$10,000+

Condo and townhouse installations commonly run $3,000–$10,000+, because the wiring route, shared building capacity and any energy-management equipment are part of the job rather than a single run from a panel in your own basement.

Send us your parking level and space number, the location of the building’s electrical room if you know it, and any documents your board has already issued. We will tell you what we can quote and what the corporation needs to approve first.

Send photos of:

  • .The electrical panel with the door open, breakers visible
  • .The main breaker rating
  • .The electrical meter
  • .Where the charger will go
  • .The route from the panel to that spot
  • .The charger label or model number, if you already own one

Tell us whether it is a house, a townhouse or a condo, the approximate distance in feet, and your vehicle model. We review the photos, confirm the scope and the price, then book the installation. If the setup needs an on-site look before it can be quoted, we say so before quoting rather than after.
