How Much Does EV Charger Installation in Brampton Cost?

EV charger installation in Brampton typically costs $1,500–$2,800 for a standard Level 2 installation. Jobs involving a detached garage, a long wiring run, finished walls, load-management equipment, or a panel that’s already at capacity commonly reach $3,500 or more.

Four things move the price more than anything else:

  • the distance and route from your panel to the charger

  • whether the panel has room for a new 240-volt circuit

  • whether the charger is hardwired or connected through an approved receptacle such as a NEMA 14-50

  • whether the run stays indoors or has to go along an exterior wall or underground to a detached garage

The charging unit itself runs $500–$1,200 depending on brand, amperage and connector. If you already own the charger, the quote covers installation only.

Capacity check

Do You Need a Panel Upgrade?

Not usually. Most Brampton homes on a 200-amp service can take a Level 2 charger on a new dedicated circuit without any upgrade. We run a load calculation on your existing service first and tell you the answer before you commit to anything.

Where the service is 100 amps, or the panel has no spare spaces, there are two ways forward.

Often the cheaper path
$1,000–$1,500

A load-management device shares available capacity between the charger and your existing loads for $1,000–$1,500, which is often cheaper than replacing the service.

The alternative
$3,000–$5,000+

The alternative is a 200-amp service upgrade at $3,000–$5,000+.

A service upgrade also involves Alectra Utilities, the electricity distributor for Brampton. We coordinate that work and the ESA notification, and confirm the timeline with you before scheduling.

Scope of work

What the Installation Includes

  • Load calculation and panel capacity review
  • A dedicated 240-volt circuit: breaker, conductors, and conduit where required
  • Mounting the charger, or installing an approved receptacle
  • Testing the circuit and confirming the charger operates
  • ESA notification, inspection, and documentation
  • Tesla
  • FLO
  • ChargePoint
  • Grizzl-E
  • Autel
  • Emporia

We install and connect equipment from Tesla, FLO, ChargePoint, Grizzl-E, Autel, Emporia and other approved manufacturers, with NACS or J1772 connectors depending on the unit and the vehicle. Before installation we confirm the model, rated output, circuit requirements, mounting instructions, and whether the unit is rated for outdoor use.

Permits and inspection

Do You Need a Permit to Install an EV Charger in Ontario?

Yes. A new 240-volt circuit for an EV charger requires an ESA notification and inspection. XB Electric files it under ECRA/ESA licence #7016894, handles the inspection, and gives you the documentation once the work is approved. Both are included in the quoted price — they are not billed separately at the end.

Send photos of:

  • The electrical panel with the door open, breakers visible
  • The main breaker rating
  • The electrical meter
  • Where the charger will go
  • The route from the panel to that spot
  • The charger label or model number, if you already have one

Include the approximate distance in feet and your vehicle model. We review the photos, confirm the scope and the price, then book the work. If the setup needs an on-site look before we can quote it, we say so up front rather than quoting blind.
